Gaston Ramirez’s second half header was all Middlesbrough needed to claim a well-deserved win over a lacklustre Hull City at the Riverside Stadium.
The Uruguayan was a constant threat throughout the night, and his header on the hour mark was the highlight of a match lacking in quality throughout.
Boro controlled the game, and they came out the blocks showing this desire to dominate their opponents.
An early chance fell to Negredo, but his powerful strike flew over the bar from close-range, with Ramirez later forcing a stop from Marshall in the Hull goal.
